Case Study: UX/UI & Web Design
for Parents’ Foundation for Transitional Living
Key Skills: UX/UI design, responsive web design, HTML/CSS development, CMS integration, SEO, website performance optimization.
-
Parents Foundation for Transitional Living is a mental health residence for adults struggling with persistent mental illness. They are a mission-driven non-profit that was struggling to find a cohesive brand identity and capture a consistent market presence. At the beginning of my tenure with the organization, they approached me with a challenge: their website was stuck in the past and desperately needed updating. The site wasn’t mobile-friendly, lacked modern SEO strategies, and wasn’t engaging visitors as it should. My mission was clear: to completely redesign and optimize the site, transforming it into a dynamic, user-centric platform that boosts engagement and amplifies the foundation’s impact.
-
Antiquated Design:
The site’s design was outdated and uninspiring, which led to high bounce rates and a lack of connection with today’s audience that expects a high-quality, responsive website.
Lack of User Interface Optimization:
With users browsing on all laptops, tablets, and mobile devices, the site’s non-responsive design and extra-wide layout were major roadblocks to accessibility and user satisfaction.
Weak SEO:
The site was virtually invisible to search engines, with missing meta tags, poor keyword usage, and sluggish load times—all contributing to low search rankings.
Outdated Content:
The content didn’t reflect the foundation’s current work or impact, leaving a gap between their mission and their online presence. They needed new copy to ensure prospective clients could clearly understand what the foundation has to offer.
-
I. Website Redesign
Creating Fresh, Modern Look:
I gave the site a complete makeover with a modern design that truly reflects the foundation’s mission. The new aesthetic is vibrant, visually appealing, and designed to connect with users instantly.
Mobile-First Design:
Creating an intuitive user interface that worked across platforms was paramount. I crafted a responsive site that delivers an exceptional experience on any device, whether it’s a smartphone, tablet, or desktop.
II. SEO Overhaul
Strategic Keyword Integration
After thorough keyword research, I embedded key terms throughout the site—boosting visibility where it matters most. Each page included SEO optimized titles, descriptions, and page-specific keywords to drive prospective clients to the most important parts of the site.
Technical SEO Boosts:
I optimized the site’s speed, cleaned up the URL structure, and implemented a strong internal linking strategy. Every image was tagged with SEO-friendly alt text, and I ensured the site was properly optimized for search engine indexing.
Content Development:
I revamped the site’s content, aligning it with the foundation’s current initiatives. New pages, including a blog and resource center, were added to keep users engaged and informed.
III. Enhanced User Experience
Intuitive Navigation:
I streamlined the site’s navigation, making it easy for users to find what they need quickly. A clear, straightforward menu and a new search function were key improvements.
Interactive Features:
I added donation buttons, an events calendar, and integrated social media to drive user engagement and interaction.
IV. Analytics & Ongoing Optimization
Continuous Performance Monitoring:
I set up Google Analytics and other tools to track site performance, user behavior, and SEO impact. This data allowed me to make ongoing improvements and keep the site performing at its best.
